Are you applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) but still need to work?
Here are some things to consider when it comes to applying for SSDI and finding/maintaining employment.
Disclaimer! Everyone’s case is different, and disabilities can present themselves in many different ways. Please consult a professional for advice specific to your application and circumstances. (See toward bottom of page!)
Working while applying for SSI/SSDI…
There is a misconception that individuals applying for SSDI cannot work while applying; or rather that working will affect one’s chances of being approved.
Individuals can earn up to -but not exceed- $1,310 per month ($15,720 per year) before taxes to maintain eligibility for SSDI.
Keep record of any changes that were made by your employer to accommodate for your disability.
